I’m Ready To Design My Pond
If you are ready to design your pond you know that it will be something special that you’ll enjoy when it is done. You’ve probably already learned quite a bit about the details of what goes into a garden or koi pond also. Whether you are designing a koi pond or a garden pond you know the life housed in your pond will need some things and the design of your pond has to incorporate what’s necessary to supply those things. Koi fish ponds have very similar principle concerns to garden ponds in that they require sunlight, aeration, filtration (including chemical balance) and food. They are different in regard to the amounts of each that they need though. If you’ve begun to choose plants and fish for your koi fish ponds and garden ponds you’re probably already aware that each species, and technically each example of that species will require different balances of each condition. The result is a “band” in which the life in your pond can exist. You’ll have to keep this in mind in the design of your pond. You’ll also want to keep in mind your appreciation of the pond in mind as you design the pond.
When considering the habitat that you are creating you may need to design your pond to allow installation of a filtration system. You’ll also likely need an aeration method of some sort, especially if you are designing a koi pond. There’s also the need for sunlight. This is needed for koi fish ponds as well as a garden pond. (Hopefully you’ve already determined what specifications you need, if not, you’ll need to do some research on the plants and fish you want to house and what they need. You’ll also want to design your pond with adequate location considerations that you can learn about online or by asking an expert.) Now some equipment may require you to place components close together and it may not be a bad idea to keep all the equipment together on one side of the pond or at either “end” of the pond. If necessary utilizing tubing can allow you to place pumps, etc. in a single location and provide output and intake nozzles at other location, but consider the power of your pumps before doing this and ask for help if you have any doubts. Don’t allow the equipment to block sunlight you calculated in your daily allowance for the pond’s surface either. It may be beneficial to keep the future in mind and design with a space allotment for expansion in the future.
Next you’ll want to consider your own enjoyment. Just as you don’t want equipment and waterfalls blocking the sun, you don’t want things blocking your view from your preferred vantage point either. Give consideration to your enjoyment when you design your garden pond. You may want allow a space so that individuals can walk directly out above your koi fish ponds so they can enjoy the movement of the fish. A garden or koi pond can be a joy when its cold outside too don’t consider only one season when you design your pond. A great design can turn a wonderful pond into a year-round joy.
